Information on the closure of the Feldkirch-Buchs railway line (12 August to 8 September): Train tickets are valid on LIEmobil bus

Shortly before the summer holidays end in Liechtenstein, ÖBB begins construction work on the railway line through Liechtenstein. "We can understand that this route closure is causing commuters little joy," says LIEmobil Management Board member Sigvard Wohlwend. "That's why LIEmobil is recognising all train tickets valid between Feldkirch and Buchs as well as Feldkirch and Sargans on the corresponding routes on its buses during the route closure. 

 

The tickets that will also be recognised by LIEmobil in the period from 12 August to 8 September include single tickets, weekly, monthly and annual passes (e.g. Klimaticket, Klimaticket Vorarlberg ...) or tourist passes such as Eurail or Interrail. The decisive factor is that the rail ticket is valid for the journey from Feldkirch to Sargans or Buchs or the railway stations Schaan-Vaduz, Forst-Hilti or Nendeln or vice versa.  

 

Train tickets are therefore valid on the following LIEmobil lines during the ÖBB line closure:  

• Lines 11, 13/12E Feldkirch-Schaan-Sargans   

• Line 12 Schaan-Buchs  

• Lines 13, 14 Feldkirch-Schaan(-Buchs).  

 

A valid bus ticket is required on all other LIEmobil lines during the closure of the railway line.

I am travelling to work in Liechtenstein by train. What do I do during the construction phase?  

 

ÖBB has planned a rail replacement service with buses for the S-Bahn trains used by commuters.  

 

You can find the timetable for the replacement S-Bahn service on this page (German only). Please note the changed journey times compared to the S-Bahn and check your travel options on sbb.ch or in the SBB mobile app before departure.  

 

Alternatively, you can use all LIEmobil buses on the Feldkirch-Schaan-Buchs/Sargans route during the construction phase with a valid ÖBB ticket or annual pass (e.g. Klimaticket).

LIEmobil passes have long been valid on all trains between Feldkirch and Buchs. So are they also valid on replacement bus services?  

Yes, with your LIEmobil pass you can also use the replacement service between Buchs and Feldkirch. The prerequisite for this is that it is an "All zones" travelcard or a two-zone travelcard, of which zone 300/307 (Unterland) is part.  

 

I would like to take the Railjet from Buchs to Zurich. Is this possible during the line closure?  

Unfortunately not, as the Railjets will either be diverted via St. Margrethen or only run from/to Feldkirch.  

 

The IR13 from Buchs to Sargans is just as fast. In Sargans, change to the IC3 to Zurich. Plan your journey on sbb.ch or in the SBB mobile app. 

 

I am travelling to Austria on the Railjet/Nightjet during the period of the route closure. What do I do now?  

Travel in comfort with LIEmobil or the replacement service to Feldkirch train station. Trains run from Feldkirch in the direction of Bregenz and Vienna. Railjets and Nightjets do not run from Sargans or Buchs.
